It is often said that work expands to fill the time allotted to it and with that truism comes a complacency that if not done today will be done tomorrow, and if not done right can be corrected tomorrow.
Reflections on the past year bring the inescapable kaleidoscope of emotions as we celebrate, agonize, console, and justify, but always ending up at the same place…
“My New Year resolutions are blah, blah, blah!”
So having fire-crackered out 2015, we reach into the age old trunk of resolutions made and forgotten by the wayside, brush them off, add a bit of deceptive sheen, and ascribe them the sanctimonious label of – New Beginnings.
And the carousel spins on…
But what if there were no carousel, no second chances, no possibility to re-work our mediocre efforts, and all actions and decisions were one way streets? How would we live, love, work, and worship? Would we step out with confidence and purpose to claim our share of the pie or would we be frozen into a state of inertia, reluctant to make the move that leads to endless possibilities?
Putting away the shackles of fear and doubt let us not restrict and stifle 2016 with mundane rehashed resolutions on specific activities and undertakings but commit to a renewing of the mind and philosophies as we strive to be all that we can be.
This is it! The die is cast and there is no turning back.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
